Application Period Open for the Korean American Community Foundation’s
2023 National Grants Cycle

Funding Opportunity for Nonprofit Organizations Outside of New York and New Jersey;

Request for Proposals Briefing to be Held on September 18: kacfny.org/grants

The Korean American Community Foundation (KACF) is now accepting applications for the 2023 National Grants cycle. Organizations outside of New York and New Jersey only are invited to apply for this funding opportunity through October 13, 2023 at kacfny.org/grants. A virtual information session will be held on September 18, 2023 at 1pm ET for organizations interested in applying (REGISTER).

KACF was founded in 2002 by a group of Korean American leaders in New York to address the chronic underinvestment in the Korean immigrant community. Over the past 21 years, the Foundation has led a philanthropic movement, mobilizing Korean Americans to give back to their community and distributing $12 million in grants to fund nearly 400 projects serving low-income Korean and Asian immigrants in the greater New York area.   

“While we remain committed to continuing our work locally, we have been hearing the need for funding support in other regions that are home to large Korean American populations,” said KACF President Kyung B. Yoon. “To that end, we have established a National Grant program to support impactful yet underfunded organizations across the country that share our grantmaking goal to increase the economic security of low-income Korean and Asian Americans.”

The Foundation invites applications from nonprofit organizations outside of New York and New Jersey that are working with low-income Korean Americans as a target population or within the larger group of constituents they serve. Eligible organizations can apply for up to $50,000 in program-specific or general operating support. The Foundation is interested in funding:

• projects that aim to close data gaps on the needs of the Korean American community;
• seeding or supporting ongoing collaborative or coalition-building efforts; and
• both nationally- and regionally-focused projects to address barriers to economic security.

Eligibility requirements can be reviewed at kacfny.org/grants. The grant application is available in English and Korean, and the Foundation welcomes organizations to submit their responses in either language. Funding decisions will be announced in December 2023.
